The final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad. The final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren starts in Russia. Organization of the federal Olympics

Students of grades 7-11 from Moscow schools who have successfully completed the first, school stage, as well as the winners and prize-winners of the municipal stage of last year are invited to the second, municipal stage. Olympiads in 24 subjects are held from October to December.

Competitions in various disciplines are usually held on different days so that schoolchildren can take part in several competitions. The largest Olympic Games will be held on weekends.

This year, the municipal stage in biology and physics for 9th grade students will be held online.

For the first time this year, principals and management teams of capital schools will be able to complete tasks at the municipal stage.

“The Olympiads today are not only a means of identifying gifted children. This is a way for everyone to find the area of knowledge where they are talented. Therefore, it is important that those who work in schools see for themselves what the Olympiad is.

So, on the initiative of one of the directors of Moscow schools, the idea arose to give management teams the opportunity to participate in the double municipal stage of the All-Russian Olympiad. It was organized by the Center for Pedagogical Excellence together with the Moscow Center for the Development of Human Resources in Education.

The duplicate of the Olympiad takes place on the same day that the children write it, with a slight delay to prevent information leakage. Directors carry out tasks according to the same rules as children,”- said the director of the Center for Pedagogical Excellence Ivan Yashchenko.

The first competitions in French, life safety and social studies have already taken place. Competitions in ecology, biology and literature will be held until the end of October. The municipal stage will end on December 16 with the Informatics Olympiad.

More than 30 thousand students from capital schools took part in the Olympiad in the first three subjects.

For several years now, special conditions for participation in the All-Russian Olympiad have been created for blind, visually impaired schoolchildren and children undergoing long-term treatment.

This year, the municipal stage of the Olympiad will be held in the children's city clinical hospital and in the center named after Dmitry Rogachev, tasks will be translated into Braille, and enlarged versions have been prepared for visually impaired schoolchildren.

The All-Russian School Olympiad is held annually among students in grades 4-11. The competition takes place in four stages: school, municipal, regional and final.

In Moscow, the organizer of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is the capital's Department of Education. The first three stages are coordinated by the Center for Teaching Excellence. The Center for Pedagogical Excellence has organized online training courses in all subjects specifically for the municipal stage.

You can get acquainted with the tasks of previous years and practice before the competition on the website vos.olimpiada.ru.

We remind you that at the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of the last academic year, Moscow schoolchildren won a record number of diplomas - 906, and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin decided to increase the size of the prize for winners and runners-up by 50 percent.

TASS, March 20. /Corr. TASS Kristina Sulima/. The final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren (VsOSH) starts on Tuesday in Volgograd with competitions in astronomy.

The social elevator, which allows winners to enter the best universities without exams, has recently been increasingly criticized. This is largely due to assignment leaks that occurred last year. The head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Olga Vasilyeva, announced that she would fight dishonest Olympiad participants and test their knowledge using the Unified State Exam in a core subject.

To find out whether schoolchildren, in pursuit of a medal and a student card at a prestigious university, are really ready to cheat at the Olympiad, a TASS correspondent talked to the organizers and participants of the competition.

Participation is free for everyone

The first school Olympiad in Russia took place in the 19th century, when the Astronomical Society of the Russian Empire organized an Olympiad for students. Currently, this event has become the largest intellectual competition in the country, in which more than 6 million school students participate annually.

The All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is held by the Ministry of Education and Science annually in 24 subjects from September 1 to April 30. It includes four stages: school, municipal, regional and final. Anyone can take part in the school stage of the All-Russian Secondary School for free and then move up the “Olympic ladder” taking into account their results. The final stage takes place in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation selected by the Ministry of Education and Science in accordance with the submitted applications.

Diplomas of the winners and prize-winners of the final stage are supported by cash prizes; diplomas of the Olympiad are valid for four years and give the right to admission without entrance examinations to any university in Russia in the profile of the Olympiad. The best winners of the final stage of the All-Russian Secondary School are selected for Russian national teams to participate in international olympiads in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, astronomy and natural sciences.

Mission leak scandal

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, tasks from the regional stage of the competition are transmitted in encrypted form via secure communication channels. Access to them is strictly limited.

Despite this, in 2017, the chairman of the Guild of Literature Sergei Volkov, who at that time was also a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, reported that the regional stage of the All-Russian Olympiad in Literature was marred by leakage of assignments. Then the issue was quickly resolved. The schoolchildren were provided with an alternative version of the tasks, and the head of the relevant ministry, Olga Vasilyeva, ordered an internal investigation.

The reputation of the Olympiads was spoiled, and the head of the Ministry of Education and Science repeatedly spoke harshly about the current level of school competitions. Vasilyeva called for strengthening control over the Olympics. The question was also raised about involving special communications forces in the delivery of materials.

The minister also stated the need to review the quota system for the Olympiads, since the number of its winners and prize-winners has increased more than 10 times since Soviet times. In her opinion, this would allow for a better selection of applicants who receive special rights when admitted to a university. The head of the Ministry of Education and Science proposed reducing the number of Olympiads that universities hold independently.

Children are children

The head of the Russian national computer science team, honorary worker of general education of the Russian Federation, Marina Tsvetkova, told TASS that there is no rapid cheating at the Olympiads, but “children are children.” “Of course, it’s impossible to say that for a certain number of children there won’t be a child who wants to cheat. But school competitions are a multi-stage system, at some stage the one who cheats will still be eliminated naturally,” Tsvetkova said. She added that she knows of a couple of cases when a child, having passed the regional stage, refused to go to the final stage, realizing that there the truth would come out.

According to Tsvetkova, today people talk about violations so often because video surveillance has appeared in schools. “Now there are technical means that have made it possible to raise all this to the top, everything has become visible, transparent. And this is good. People will get used to it, the culture of the Olympics will grow in the next 3-4 years,” the team leader is convinced.

Most children, she says, never use crib sheets. “They even treat me with contempt when you ask them: “Maybe it would be easier if somewhere you could spy with one eye?” They say: “No, that’s not fair. I wanted to test myself,” Tsvetkova said.

“It’s great that the developmental education system is built on competitive and such interesting creative procedures that they are widespread today,” the expert believes.

There are problems in university Olympiads

The coordinator of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in Moscow, director of the Moscow Center for Continuing Mathematical Education, Ivan Yashchenko, takes the same position as Tsvetkova. “I would like to say right away that when it comes to the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren, then, firstly, the overwhelming majority of the children who are winners and prize-winners of the final stage pass the Unified State Exam perfectly. Secondly, to win at the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren is somehow then, from my point of view, by dishonest means, it’s impossible, because it’s a multi-stage system: you go through four stages and fail somewhere,” Yashchenko told TASS.

According to him, at the final stage “everyone knows everyone by sight,” and there are very few winners and prize-winners. “That is, to assume that someone will be dishonest is absolutely unrealistic, absolutely impossible. All works are published, everything can be verified,” Yashchenko emphasized. He added that today we need to work on strengthening security not at all-Russian Olympiads, but at university ones.

“Unfortunately, statistics show that at a number of university Olympiads, students do not confirm the Unified State Examination, because some Olympiads have low criteria and so on. And here we need to strengthen the work. As for questions about dishonesty, this is not about the final stage of the Olympiad.” , - noted Yashchenko.

In his opinion, the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren should be expanded. “Today, work is actively underway in the regions to develop talent, and for several years now the number of participants in the final stage has not changed. As a result, it is becoming more and more difficult for children to get to this stage, and the entry limits are growing. It seems to me that the task of the ministry is to increase the number of participants in those subjects in which work in the regions is going very well,” he said.

“For example, thanks to the Sirius center, results in mathematics, physics, computer science, and chemistry in the regions are growing very much,” the coordinator pointed out, emphasizing that this would require the regulatory framework to be refined.

A look from the inside

The winner of the final stage of the All-Russian Law Olympiad for schoolchildren last year, first-year law student at Moscow State University Evgenia Karpova told TASS that it is quite possible to cheat at the municipal stage. This is due to the fact that such competitions are held by schools, and the observers are the teachers themselves, who, in the girl’s opinion, have no interest in conducting them well.

“Therefore, it is possible to cheat at the municipal level, and this is practiced, but due to high passing scores at subsequent stages, people are usually eliminated, because the tasks are written in such a way that it is difficult to copy the answers to logic tasks,” the student explained.

However, she completely ruled out the possibility of using cheat sheets at the final stage. “This is something that can be excluded with one hundred percent probability. Everything is very strict. The team leaders themselves from different regions take away the phones from students so that there are no precedents or excesses,” Karpova emphasized.

She also criticized the recently widespread opinion that all budget places in universities are occupied only by Olympiad students.

“The best universities are completely accessible to people applying based on the results of the Unified State Examination. If we take Moscow State University, then we have 600 people on the course, 300 people in budget places, only 60 people who took part in competitions. Accordingly, 240 people entered using the Unified State Examination. And on top of everything, the world The Olympiad is open to everyone, no one stops a person from setting a goal, preparing and taking a place at the Olympiad,” the girl noted.

I wrote the Olympiad - will I pass the Unified State Exam?

The head of the Ministry of Education and Science, Olga Vasilyeva, has repeatedly emphasized that she will stop cases of VSOSH winners who cannot confirm their knowledge on the specialized Unified State Exam (USE) from entering universities. These, according to the ministry, are almost 30%. According to the winner of the All-Russian Biology Olympiad, winner of the International Biology Olympiad, student of the Faculty of Biology at Moscow State University Tatyana Pashkovskaya, the results of the Olympiad and the Unified State Exam do not necessarily have to correlate.

“I don’t like the very form of presentation, that the Unified State Exam is an absolute indicator of knowledge. No, of course, if you know the subject, you will pass with 80 points. For example, I have 84, although I am a gold medalist of the international Olympiad. But the Unified State Exam has such specific tasks that require lengthy preparation, so many Olympiad athletes who won the Olympiad simply do not spend their time on it,” Pashkovskaya said.

At the same time, she emphasized that she does not consider the Olympiads a more objective indicator of knowledge. “No, this is not so. The Olympiads, especially the university Olympiads, which the minister proposes to shorten, are simply an exam that is conducted by the university itself. He just has the opportunity to create exactly those tasks that seem more objective to him, in order to show whether a person knows biology or not , as well as what the university itself wants to ask,” the girl believes.

As for cheating, she personally has never seen anything like this at the Olympics, and she has never heard of anyone “buying” a prize place. “The fact is that the Olympiad problems are designed in such a way that you won’t be able to find the answer on the Internet. Yes, there are facts that you need to know, but they are trying to get rid of this. While you are looking for answers on the Internet, you will waste precious time; plus “If you see the phone, you may be removed from participation,” said Pashkovskaya.

“At the final stage, you generally know everyone personally and their level, but I cannot judge what is happening in all regions. There are rumors that some olympiads are free, but such olympiads are given the third level in the list of the Ministry of Education and Science, and they do not affect admission to a university,” the student noted.

The school stage of the All-Russian Olympiad has already begun. All interested students in grades 5-11 can participate in it. We decided to tell you in more detail about each of the Olympiad levels and the conditions for climbing it, so that you know exactly what to prepare for.

I School stage

The school stage of the All-Russian Olympiad is the first stage that absolutely all interested students from grades 5 to 11 can try to climb, since there is no quota for the number of participants in this case. If desired, the participant even has the right to complete tasks for a higher class than the one in which he is studying. It is possible to participate in Olympiads in all 24 disciplines, since the dates do not overlap.

At this stage, on each of the days established for a particular subject, assignment options become available to schools. Their complexity, as a rule, allows all students who have mastered the school course to successfully cope with them.

II Municipal stage

In the case of the municipal stage, the organizer of the Olympiad is the local government body in the field of education. And here he already sets limits on the number of participants, forms their lists and sets the number of points for each subject and class that needed to be obtained at the school stage in order to move on to this one. There is also one more restriction: only those who have completed tasks at least at the 7th grade level can take part in it - the class of actual training does not play a role.

Tasks at this level, of course, vary greatly in complexity and require knowledge that is not limited to the school curriculum. But still, in this case, they can be mastered by a student who has successfully completed a school course and studied additional literature.

III Regional stage

The regional stage plays a very important role in the All-Russian Olympiad: it is designed to select the best among the winners of the municipal stage, who will be able to compete with each other in the final one. But more on that later. First of all, it is worth noting that at this stage only students who have completed assignments for grades 9-11 can participate. Unlike previous levels, this one requires really serious preparation from students. His assignments are not limited to the school curriculum, even if it is an in-depth one, but they go significantly beyond them. Moreover, their successful implementation requires not only a good academic base and general erudition, but also the ability to think critically and carefully analyze the material. Therefore, the sooner a student begins preparing for the All-Russian Olympiad, the more chances he will have to successfully pass this stage.

IV Final stage

As the song says: “The last battle is the hardest.” To become the winner or prize-winner of the final stage of the All-Russian Secondary School, you will have to beat the guys from all over Russia who have proven their right to compete for victory at the regional. Students in grades 9-11 can participate in it, but students in grades 5-8 are also allowed to participate if at the previous stage they competed for grade 9 and scored the required number of points. If in a certain region not a single student has scored the number of points established by the Ministry of Education, then the student with the highest number of points is sent. However, it must be at least 50% of the established value.

Speaking about the complexity of tasks and the required level of preparation, one cannot help but notice the obvious - they, of course, increase even more. It is also extremely important to understand what techniques are used to solve certain problems. To do this, it is useful to solve options from previous years and discuss them with experienced participants. Olympiad visiting schools and Olympiad preparation courses can help with this, where teachers will understand the formats of tasks, know all the requirements for their implementation and pay attention only to Olympiad preparation. No one promises that this path will be easy, but that is why it is the final stage, so that only those who have put maximum effort and time into becoming the best can win it.

The All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren is one of the most popular and long-awaited events in the educational sphere of Russia. It is anticipated by gifted children studying in almost all classes. Perhaps, only the annual State Certification of Students can be called a more ambitious project, because thousands of schoolchildren take part in the Olympiad, demonstrating the knowledge acquired in 24 academic disciplines.

Becoming a participant in this event is a mission filled with honor and responsibility. Well, winning the Olympics in one of the subjects is a chance to demonstrate the knowledge and skills accumulated over the years, the opportunity to stand up for your school, and also receive excellent prizes. For students in grades 9-11, victory in the highest round of the competition is accompanied by another important and even fateful opportunity - they get the chance to become applicants to the best universities, institutes and academies of the Russian Federation on preferential terms.

Of course, becoming a winner is not so easy - just being a talented student is not enough for this. Olympians must work through course materials and master topics that go far beyond what is required to achieve an excellent grade. Let's find out how, when and in what mode the All-Russian Olympiad will be held in the 2018/2019 academic year!

The first round of the 2019 Olympics starts in schools in September 2018!

From the history of the Olympics

Of course, we can talk about the development of the modern All-Russian Olympiad from the moment the history of Russia began as a federal state. However, the foundations of this event in the field of education were laid in the distant 19th century, when in 1886 members of the Astronomical Society of the Russian Empire initiated the holding of olympiad competitions in solving mathematical problems for “studying youth”.

When the Russian Empire was replaced on the world map by the Soviet Union, the school Olympiad movement not only did not stop, but also noticeably intensified - since the 30s of the last century, Olympiads began to be held for high school students in such disciplines as mathematics, physics and chemistry. Gradually, the Olympiads began to be called All-Union Olympiads, but in the 60s, the Minister of Education M.A. Prokofiev signed a decree approving a whole list of Olympiad competitions between schoolchildren.

Over time, the number of subjects in which one could demonstrate one's knowledge only increased. For example, computer science was included in the list back in 1989, since 1992 the list included geography, two years later - astronomy and ecology, three years later - literature, and in 2000 the first foreign language was added to the list - it became German. The latest expansion of the number of subjects occurred in 2016, when schoolchildren began to compete in three more foreign languages (Spanish, Chinese and Italian).

Interesting fact: Today, specialists from the Department of General Education, part of the country’s Ministry of Education, supervise Olympiads in 24 subjects.

Disciplines of the All-Russian Olympiad

In the 2018/2019 academic year, Russian students will have the chance to compete for victory in the Olympiad rounds, which are held in the following school disciplines:

  • exact sciences are represented by such a discipline as computer science and computer technology, as well as one of the “oldest” subjects – mathematics;
  • disciplines of a natural nature are represented by an extremely wide range - you can take part in geographical, biological, astronomical, physical, chemical and environmental competitions;
  • the philological direction includes olympiad competitions for knowledge of German, English, Chinese, Spanish, French and Italian, as well as Russian language and literature;
  • students who are inclined towards the humanities can try their hand at a historical Olympiad, social studies, competition in the field of law or economics;
  • In addition, the Olympiad subjects include art, technology and basic life safety, as well as a competition for real athletes - physical education.

Organization of the federal Olympics

Victory in the All-Russian Olympiad involves going through a long and difficult path, because students will have to demonstrate their strongest sides during 4 stages:

  1. School stage. This tour can easily be called the simplest, since its organizers are local governments responsible for education in the city districts. In the first stage, children representing classes from 5th to 11th compete. Pupils of 4th grade take part in this tour only in two subjects - Russian language and mathematics. The desire of students should not be limited in any way - anyone can become a participant in the school tour. However, you need to be prepared for the fact that the assignments will go beyond the normal curriculum, and even represent topics studied in high school. The winners move on to the next round.
  2. Municipal stage. In this round, the participants are children representing grades from 7th to 11th. This stage is organized by the city department of education, whose specialists set quotas for participants in each academic discipline, compiles lists of students (this takes into account the number of points that each class received in the previous stage of the Olympiad). Both the winners of the school rounds of the current year and the children who became winners of the Olympiad last year can participate.
  3. Regional stage. This level of the Olympiad is held for students who study in programs from grades 9 to 11. Participation is determined by the number of points scored in the municipal subject round. As at the previous stage, both the winners of the municipal stage of the 2018/2019 academic year and the previous one can compete. In addition, the number of participants can be expanded to include students who study abroad in educational institutions subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  4. The final stage carried out on a statewide scale. The composition of the final round of the Olympiad is formed directly by specialists representing the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Students who have become winners of the current and previous academic periods can also compete in this round. If a situation arises that in some region of the country none of the participants in the subject Olympiad was able to score the required number of points, then the Ministry of Education may agree to delegate one student who scored at least 50% of all points for the tasks of the regional round. An exception is also possible for students who are actually studying in grades 5-8 at school, but wish to perform in the subject for grade 9. The winners and runners-up of this prestigious tour are awarded diplomas that certify the right to enter any university in the country. Only two conditions need to be met - obtain a school certificate and enroll in a specialty in the subject in which the victory was recorded. In addition, such gifted children receive a special award on behalf of the Russian government.

Quotas for participants

It is worth distinguishing between the concepts of winners and prize-winners of tours related to the regional and federal stages. The winner is automatically the student who scores the maximum points in his subject. The winner must receive points established as passing scores by the Ministry of Education. In addition, the number of winners has a clearly defined quota:

  • at the regional round their number cannot exceed 25%;
  • in the final round there can be no more than 45%. At the same time, at this stage the number of winners is also limited - no more than 8% of the total number of participants in the tour.

During what periods do the stages of the Olympiad take place?

The Olympiad covers almost the entire academic year: it begins in September and ends in May. If we talk about individual stages, then in 2018/2019, as before, the following periods will be assigned:

  • The school tour runs from mid-September to the end of October.
  • the municipal tour is organized from the 20th of October to mid-December;
  • the regional stage runs from mid-January to the end of February;
  • The final stage of the school Olympiad will take place from mid-March to mid-May.

Preparation for standard tasks for the Olympiad

To prepare for the Olympics, download and work through standard tasks

Olympiad tasks for each subject are most often divided into two blocks - theory and practice. Of course, each of the disciplines involves its own specifics and characteristics of tasks, especially when it comes to the final round, so it’s impossible to do without careful preparation. If we talk in detail about some Olympiad disciplines, then we can cite the following facts:

  • the Arts Olympiad will reveal the student’s creative abilities, so it’s worth getting your teeth into and honing your drawing or sculpture techniques;
  • mathematicians are often given tricky problems that need to be solved in non-standard ways;
  • non-competitive tasks are often prepared for participants in Russian language tours - for example, in the form of a reasoned argument or even writing the Olympic anthem;
  • Schoolchildren competing in the Informatics Olympiad must solve only practical tasks. Interestingly, during the final rounds they often conduct online broadcasts and teleconferences with famous Russian scientists;
  • at the Chemistry Olympiad, schoolchildren will have to show not only theoretical knowledge, but also the ability to conduct experiments in all sections of this science;
  • for ecology, starting with the regional tour, it is planned to present and defend an interesting and relevant environmental project;
  • Geography Olympiad will require excellent ability to navigate using maps. Interestingly, as part of this non-competitive competition, a multimedia quiz with prizes is held. The best of the best may be awarded additional financial incentives - personalized scholarship payments from the Around the World company, which are awarded throughout all years of university study;
  • In the history competition, you will not only need to show that you are excellent at solving tests, but also write an essay and a history project.

However, you can practice in advance using examples of Olympic complexes over the past years. For example, to help students, you can recommend the Internet resource rosolymp.ru - this is the direct official website of the All-Russian Olympiad. Here you can find tasks for federal stages over the past few years (and even answers to them).

Support and criticism of the All-Russian Olympiads

Like any phenomenon, the Olympics have two sides. Of course, these events have enormous positive consequences, because they help to popularize science and identify the most talented students among students who, with proper support, will be able to achieve world recognition. Thus, the example of mathematician G.Ya. is very indicative. Perelman, who won the Olympiad back in Soviet times, and then became a laureate of the European Mathematical Society Prize, as well as the international Fields Prize (for being able to solve the Poincré conjecture).

For the same achievement, Perelman received a $1 million award from the leadership of the Clay Mathematical Institute! You can also remember S.K. Smirnov, who had previously demonstrated his mathematical talent at the Olympiad. At one time he received six prestigious awards, including the Fields Medal, and today he is a visiting professor at the University of Geneva and a member of the council of the country's Ministry of Education and Science.

Places taken at the Olympics will open your way to the best universities in the country!

Such events have a positive impact on the prestige of the state, because the best of the best students then represent Russia at international competitions. It is also very pleasant for schoolchildren to receive prizes - the winners are entitled to a government payment of 60,000 rubles, and the prize-winners - 30,000 rubles. Although for this, of course, you need to study very hard.
