22:43 Now on mat B there is a fight for a bronze medal in the weight category up to 63 kg. There are athletes who lost to our Erbol Bakirov - Hrachiya Poghosyan from Armenia and Azamat Kairov from Russia. Bakirov won both wrestlers confidently and beautifully.

22:42 The first gold of this World Championship goes to the Iranian team. It was won by an athlete who defeated our Kerimberdi uulu in the semi-finals

22:28 in the second period, Sefershaev was stronger and scored 6 points. The Russian becomes a bronze medalist, Kerimberdi uulu takes the final 5th place in this weight category

22:20 in the first half of the first period, the referee saw passivity in the actions of the Russian and put him on the ground, giving our wrestler a point. Nurtazin could not win anything from the ground and is still leading 1:0 after the first period, there are still 3 minutes of fight ahead

22:18 now Nurtazin Kerimberdi uulu and his opponent from Russia are coming out to the mat for the fight for bronze in the weight category up to 55 kg

22:16 Japanese Maeda lost in the semi-finals of the weight category up to 72 kg and deprived Ilim Bilimov of the chance to compete for bronze

17:44 That's all we have for now. We hope for a consolation tournament

17:43 Our wrestler is not fighting at all, the Georgians are more active and lead 7:0. And now it’s 9:0 and that’s it...

17:41 Ilgiz Bilimov comes out on mat A for the 1/8 finals match against the Georgian wrestler Aivengo Rikadze

16:37 Maeda took full advantage of the chance and first scored 5 points, and then laid Ilim on his shoulder blades. Alas...

16:35 after a minute and a half of the fight, the referee decides to punish Bilimov with a liability, and give the Japanese a point and ground

16:33 on the mat B Ilim Bilimov begins his 1/8 final bout against the Japanese wrestler Maeda

16:10 Thus, at the moment in the evening part we have three athletes who will fight for bronze. The Bilimov brothers also have chances

16:09 Nurtazin's opponent Kerimberdi uulu became known in the bronze fight in the weight category up to 55 kg. It will be Emin Sefershaev from Russia

16:03 his next opponent will be Aivengo Rikadze from Georgia

16:02 Ilgiz Bilimov copes with his first fight and achieves victory over the Greek wrestler - 4:1. He advances to the 1/8 finals

15:58 Akzhol’s most important opponent in the fight for bronze is Amir Kamal Bey, to whom the Kyrgyzstani lost in the fight for gold a year ago in Tampere.

15:41 Akzhol took two more points in the second period and won ahead of schedule - 9:1. Now he will fight for bronze in the evening part of the tournament

15:40 Makhmudov earns two more points - 5:1. This completes the first period

15:36 Makhmudov and the Chinese come out on the mat and begin their fight, the Kyrgyzstani is looking for a hold

15:31 mat C is ready for fight number 207, in which our Akzhol Makhmudov takes part. His opponent is a wrestler from China

14:13 The organizers started fighting half an hour earlier today, but we didn’t miss anything. The Chinese athlete defeated Luka Maletin from Serbia and will now fight with Akzhol Makhmudov for the right to compete in the bronze medal match. This fight will take place on mat C at number 207

13:14 What about the order of appearance of the athletes: first, on mat A there is a duel between Andrija Luka MALETIN (Serbia) and Yilana YILANA (China). The winner of this pair will meet Akzhol Makhmudov in the second round bout of the repechage tournament. This fight will take place on mat C under number 207. Next on mat A will be Ilim Bilimov, and on mat B will be Ilgiz Bilimov.

12:32 Akzhol Makhmudov will perform in the consolation tournament in the weight category up to 77 kg. He lost yesterday at the quarter final stage

12:29 Erbol Bakirov can win gold for us, who won four victories in a row on September 17 and will now fight in the final of the weight category up to 63 kg. His opponent will be Egyptian Hassan Ahmed Mohamed

12:21 Hello again dear wrestling fans. We begin the online text from the second competitive day of the World Junior Wrestling Championship, which takes place in the city of Trnava (Slovakia). Today the first sets of medals will be drawn and we will definitely have a medal. The only question is what denomination - gold or silver?

Russian wrestlers completed their main start in 2018 triumphantly. The 10 gold medals at the World Championships in Budapest looked especially bright against the backdrop of the disastrous Paris 2017, where there were no victories at all. Two years before the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo, the result is, of course, encouraging. I would like to believe that our wrestlers will shine at the 2020 Games.

But what if we look a little further? Let's say, towards the 2024 Olympics. You ask - how? And the answer is very simple: on November 18, the world wrestling championship among athletes under 23 years of age ended in Bucharest. Some of the tournament participants will have the chance to perform in Japan, and many will wait another four years for their chance. And the question arises - how are our youth doing?

Unattainable wrestlers

Wrestlers of all styles competed in Romania. But summing up is worth starting with the most important thing. The Russian freestyle wrestling team simply left no chance for its competitors. Our wrestlers won nine medals in ten weight categories (two of them were gold) and left Georgia and Iran far behind in the team competition.

It is curious that the Russians collected the main medal harvest literally on the flag - on the last day of the tournament. Before this, the freestyle wrestlers had four awards, but without victories. However, on Sunday our wrestlers shone on the main mat of the tournament. In the first final of the day, Magomedrasul Idrisov defeated the American Sean Faus ahead of schedule and ended a strong year on a golden note: in the 2018 season, Idrisov managed to win the European Championship and the Russian Championship.

The final final of the entire tournament also turned out to be gold for our team. Heavyweight Said Hamidov apparently easily defeated the American Yusif Khemid and won the well-deserved title. The team leader, European champion Artur Nayfonov, could also reach the gold medal. However, in the final, the best wrestler of the Old World could not cope with the Iranian Ghasempur.

So the Russian freestyle wrestling team returns to Russia with a scattering of awards, a weighty team cup and excellent prospects. These guys will make themselves known again and again!

New victory for Golovin

Unfortunately, in Greco-Roman wrestling there is no need to talk about complete triumph. The team that had recently shone at the European Championships was heading to Bucharest - three winners and four runners-up. However, it was not possible to achieve a similar result on the world stage.

In the team competition, the Russians ended up in second place, behind their competitors from Georgia. The Georgians collected a collection of five awards (three gold), while Russia had four medals and one victory. Perhaps the team failed to fully realize its potential.

The best result in the team was shown by Alexander Golovin, one of the best wrestlers of his generation in the world. In the weight category up to 97 kg, he has had no equal in U23 tournaments for two years. Alexander won the world championship last year, and in 2018 he added a victory at the European championship and, accordingly, a second victory at the world championship. The hour is probably not far when Golovin will break into the main Russian national team - he has every chance for this.

“Living people are not ready to withstand my throws.” Karelin's heir speaks

Therefore, the new world heavyweight champion Sergei Semenov trains on “stuffed animals”. About fifty throws per workout.

It is also worth noting the silver performance of the champion of Russia in the lightest weight, Vitaly Kabaloev. He easily reached the final of the tournament, but there he lost to the Georgian Nugzari Tsurtsumiya, who annoyed the Russian wrestlers for the second time in a month: at the adult world championship he stopped Vasily Topoev and eventually became a bronze medalist.

Make five from two medals

In women's wrestling, Russian fans are accustomed to being rather pessimistic. However, our team in Bucharest was a pleasant surprise: five awards and second place in the team competition after the practically invincible Japanese women - this is a positive result.

Milana Dadasheva, who reached the bronze medal at the 2018 European Senior Championships, managed to break into the medal four at the World Championships. To be more precise, even a two. Milana confidently went through the tournament until the very final, but in the decisive confrontation she still lost to the Japanese Momoka Kadoya. Unfortunately, the second Russian finalist suffered the same fate: Nadezhda Sokolova lost to Miho Igarashi from Japan in the decisive battle.

The Russian team also had three bronze medals. By a curious coincidence, all were won by the girls who won the European Championship. Alexandra Andreeva (up to 57 kg), Maria Kuznetsova (up to 65 kg) and Khanum Velieva (up to 68 kg) left Bucharest with awards.

The performance of Russian girls in Romania can hardly be considered excellent, but definitely good. After all, a year ago at the tournament in Poland, Russia had only two bronze medals.

As part of the World Junior Wrestling Championship, which is taking place these days in the city of Trnava (Slovakia), a freestyle wrestling tournament starts on September 21.

On this day, preliminary fights will take place in five weight categories - up to 57 kg, up to 65 kg, up to 70 kg, up to 79 kg and up to 97 kg. Five athletes from Kyrgyzstan will compete on the mat.

The preliminary fights begin at 14:30 Bishkek time, and the fights for reaching the finals start at 22:00.
